“We’ve been having a lovely summer at Arlington, not least with our annual staff party, which was a brilliant day. Harrison and I attempted to teach the team how to play rounders. It got off to a slightly rocky start when Adam, our event manager, managed to break the bat almost immediately. Luckily, we’re a resourceful bunch, and the lid of the cool box made a surprisingly effective substitute. From there, things improved considerably! The kitchen team put on a fantastic spread of smoked salmon bagels, sausage rolls, pasta salad and chocolate brownies, all washed down with Sancerre, rosé, beer and plenty of soft drinks.
Back at Arlington, we’ve been really enjoying our Arlington Classics set menu, with Bang Bang chicken, salmon fish cake and, of course, iced berries with white chocolate proving particularly popular. At the weekends, we’ve also introduced a beautiful whole roast Anjou chicken, served with crispy potatoes and sauce vierge — perfect for two to share, although there’s a half chicken for anyone feeling slightly less ambitious.
Despite the heat, the terrace is still going strong, the plants are flourishing, and we’ve been enjoying meeting lots of new faces over the summer holiday period. Ironically, I think we’re all looking forward to slightly milder weather over the next few weeks so we can get back to properly enjoying a British summer. Until then, we’ll be here – having fun, making new friends and keeping the wine cold.”
