Oysters, allumettes, martinis, and copies of The Names, by Florence Knapp, filled our largest table on Tuesday night for the inaugural meeting of our hotly-anticipated Arlington Book Club. Hosted by senior general manager Erin McGuinness and journalist and Arlington’s staff writer Ashley Baker, this illustrious and insightful group discussed all sorts of heady topics, including Knapp’s interpretation of nominative determinism.
We arrived as a group of strangers united by duelling loves of Arlington and literature, and left as a group of friends. We are very grateful to all who joined us, and we will announce details about upcoming meetings and book selections in Arlington’s next newsletter. In the meantime, you know where to find us – at Daunt Books! (As well as Arlington’s bar.)
